Why Hasn’t Any Government Stopped Bitcoin?

In a recent article on the Wall Street Journal’s editorial page, it was suggested that the government is not in the position to stop the growth of the cyber currency market in general or the use of the internet for money transfers. In this case the author makes the claim that the United States government has no legal authority to regulate or ban the use of the internet to transfer money.

I would like to suggest that the author take a few minutes to think about this. The author is correct when he says that there is no law on the books that says that the internet cannot be used for money transfers. This is because the internet is governed by the internet protocol. This is the series of numbers that are programmed into every computer that is connected to the internet.

The number is called TCP/IP and anyone can change the number anytime they like as long as it is done in accordance with certain business transactions. As long as the number is programmed into the computers and it can be changed, there is nothing that can stop the internet from being used for money transfers.

What about all of the money transfers that occur through the internet? Since the internet protocol number is programmed into all computers, there is nothing that can stop all of the people from logging into the internet and doing the transactions. However, the number is programmed into all of the computers that make up the internet network and there is nothing that can stop those computers from transmitting the number to the other computers.

The number is also programmed into all of the devices that are connected to the internet service providers. What happens is that all of these devices connect to the internet and pass along the internet protocol number to each other and to the servers that are online. This is how all of the computers that are connected to the internet and all of the devices that are connected to the internet get programmed with the internet protocol number. If the number is not programmed into the devices, there is nothing that can stop the internet from working as it is designed to work.

I hope that the author of the Wall Street Journal article reads that and thinks about it for a moment. As the author points out, there is no legal authority that has stopped the internet or any of its users from using the internet for money transfers. He is correct. Why has not any government stoppedbitcoin?
